After deciding on a location the Copperheart set it's self down in one of the less populated areas of Utgard. After hearing the news of an approaching attack Toemba had worked closely together with Suvei and Copperbeard to come up with a plan. They hadn't been able to gather much information on what was going to come their way. So best they could do was to prepare for as much as possible.

The Copperheart had settled on a decent sized hill sticking up from a pine wood forest. They figured a hill would give an easy way to oversee the surrounding area and hopefully spot anything coming their way. The crew had been put to work on creating several lines of defense. Building one after the other as long as time would permit them. A large number of trees would be required. These were first to be fetched as close to the ship as possible. This would both leave a barren patch

In a 30 meter radius trees would be cut down, creating a circle of fallen trees around the Copperheart. The small pile wouldn't do much in terms of defense. But it would certainly slow down someone's approach. And it would create a clear border for the crew's activities. Only one opening was to be left clear. This would be the entrance to the camp. The tree line would be guarded and petrolled day and night. Mostly archers were employed for this task. As these patrols would double as hunting expeditions. Any thing wild was to be shot and prepared for that night's dinner.

Any tree within the 30 meter circle would be cut down, collected and either added to the dead circle or prepared for use in barriers and towers. As primary guards post the Copperheart would be used. Standing on it's legs it could get much higher then any improvised guard tower. Pulleys and rope ladders were used to get things and people on and off the ship. All sword wielding crew was to sleep in tents outside the Heart, as they would have to be battle ready in a moment's notice. Archers would sleep on the ship. As well as any of the Balista crew that was untrained as a swordsman.

Directly within the tree line a ditch was being dugg. Sharp spikes would be placed in it, so that anyone crossing the obstacle of fallen trees would directly fall into this trap. Especially if a larger force was to approach them force from people pushing behind would inevitably lead to stumbling and falling with deadly effect. Another benefit of this trap would be any enemy trying to fight within would have their back facing a deadly trap. Because darkness would obscure these traps open fires had been forbidden between dusk and dawn. The only exception for this were the small Trallmalu type fires that burned in small holes dug in the ground.

To provide extra warnings tripwires had been set in the forest. They were to spring both noisy and deadly traps. Periodically all traps would be checked to make sure they were still active.

In order to get extra support Toemba had sent out scouts to talk to nearby villages. Also attempt would be made to contact other Trallmalu tribes to come and join their effort. Motivating them with promises of a new Coppercrew settlement where copper was to flow like water and where glorious deeds fighting Elves and Fea would await them. Unknown to Captain Suvei and Quartermaster Copperbeard, Toemba had already begun to consider keeping the place alive as a way for the Coppercrew to expand beyond the limited space of it's ship. And for himself to become a leader of this to be founded community, as the only person who ever could control the Copperheart would be Suvei.

The next line of defense would be a series of small towers. Between these walls would be build. This final line of defense would be build directly within the spiked ditch. The crew didn't think they would be able to finish nowhere near enough of this wall before the attack. But even the towers would make for a very good addition to the crew's defense.

As the build continued the best fighers were spared in their duties. Giving them easier jobs to do and not working them till the point of exhaustion. After all there could not be a single point during this project while not all of them would be able to wield their sword with skilling effect. The ritualists had been asked to come up with a ritual that would help them in their defense.

OC: @Alle CC spelers.

Haar grootste kracht was immers altijd mobiliteit.
