05/06/2559 A.T. Coppercrew both gaining and losing power.
Port Ossic - Several days ago we approached the coppercrew, a famous Utgardian pirate crew, with inquires about their recent suspected losses during their travels on the Vortex and we also asked them about the fact that non of the portal security guards in Midgard had seen them leave from the Vortex.

First of all, a speaker for the coppercrew confirms the fact that at least five of their prominent members, including the legendary captain Vileheart Copperbreath, former captain of the Copperheart and one officer have died on the Vortex. Their seems to be no relation between the suspected murders the oppercrew was involved in in Port Ossic and the disappearance of at least two of the suspects, a man with a face half of an orc and half of an elf and an Ogre that goes under the name of Kyloth. Some Midgard guard officials don't deny the fact that both could have simply fled Heimr to escape their sentence. It is unsure whether or not follow up investigations will commence. "Het is een enorm verlies voor de crew, voor Heimr zelfs, ook al zullen weinig personen dat geloven." one of the crewmembers noted when being asked about the losses.

Secondly, a speaker on the coppercrew also confirms that creatures called "navigators" on the place called the Vortex have the power to transport anyone to Heimr to any location they wish. This strengthens the believes of the FOT who now have a verbal evidence of a Vortexian that claims that patient zero of the plague could indeed have appeared anywhere on Heimr. Whether or not the coppercrew will use this incredible power to advance their political favor of Utgard is unclear but political interest of both Utgard and Asgard for the Vortex has increased dramatically. Anton Undain has stated that he shall at this moment not open up the portal to the Vortex for armies for either one of the waring nations, not wanting to strain relationships with the Vortexians nor strain the portal itself.

Gazthor, the former quartermaster of the Copperheart shall most likely replace the Captain as commanding officer on the Copperheart according to our contact on board the ship.

12/06/2559 A.T. Sharp increase in Asgardian troop movements.
The Needle sclera - Several guards of Midgard have reported to us a sharp increase of troop movements across the south-western border of Midgard towards the Needle desert the last two weeks.

The troops moved are several regiments of standard Elf fighters and several scouting cadres of Fae mages. Their targets have been over the last week several savage Utgardian tribes in both the Needle desert and the Wetlands. Heavy fighting commenced over several days as the savage tribes where mostly butchered or driven from their lands. The reasons and motives behind these attacks remain vague as Asgard usually attacks the more organized, civil settlements of the Utgard kingdom.

Several Midgardian tacticians regard the attacks as "easy grabbing" to increase the morale and feeling of union of the Asgardian army after the internal struggles in the Kingdom last year.

03/07/2559 A.T. Large fire burns down weapon workshop, foul play suggested.
Predator haven - Last night a large fire raged trough a halfing weapon workshop in Predator haven. Several workers who where working night shift where wounded by the flames but no casualties where suffered. Midgardian military was quick to respond and where able to douse the flames before the neighboring homes where claimed as well.

Investigations are underway but experts claim that Arson could be involved. The fire seemed to have started at several places in the workshop at the same time.

The workshop was working on a new batch of weapons for both Utgardian and Asgardian Militairy. "Allot of people might want us gone." Hubble Longtoe, the head designer of the weapons exclaims while he is beeing healed by the healer on site "Luckily we have heavy insurance. These sort of things are bound to happen. Whoever is doing this, they change little in the long run.". Hubble seems unimpressed by the act and doesn't want to comment further on whether or not he will take actions against further Arson. The Midgardian guard says they will investigate this act thoroughly and act if needed. "We shall not tolerate this unlawfulness." was all a guardsmen had to say further.

09/07/2559 A.T. Encampments found butchered.
Predator haven - At least three human encampments on the Upper Plains where found yesterday during normal plain patrols. All three encampments where either deserted or destroyed, filled with the bodies of human, clearly having fought for their lives.

Signs of battle, two days old, are present and a sign of a small burial mound and cremation site are found as well. Two of the engagements seem to have been won by the attackers and one being won by the defenders of the encampment. One of the encampments contained bodies of known Midgardian mercenaries instead of the inhabitants of the encampment itself, who had clearly fled.

The inhabitants are rumored to have been Midgardian rebels. Why or by who the mercenaries where send against them remains unknown.

Human casualties are rumored to be around fifty by far most being downed defenders.

No mercenary group or company has any comment on the matter.

BREAKING NEWS!

09/07/2559 A.T. Official return of old Asgard King and Queen announced.
New Targash - Anton Undain flanked by two Lizardmen officials has today, to a crowd of Midgardians in front of his home palace, announced the fact that he has received clearance from Asgard to finally tell us the truth about the content of the Lizardmen convoy heading to Asgard several months ago.

Within this convoy was no strong Lizardmen artifact, nor officials coming to talk about the lizardmen joining the fight against Utgard like many believed. But apparently whatever was in their proved strong enough to once again unity Asgard beneath one banner and lead the current army toward the Utgardian capital!

The convoy contained the old King and Queen of Asgard, those that where lost during the ritual that destroyed the old large trading portal and forged the now active portal to the Vortex! Another mystery is solved with this, as the Asgardian King and Queen have not been pulled into the void, nor wandered the Vortex all that time. Instead they where right here on Heimr for those two years that they where lost! Stranded on a Lizardmen island, with temporary loss of their knowledge they where saved by the lizardmen and brought home on return of their memory. This last fact is a rumor and has not been confirmed yet either Anton Undain or the Lizardmen officials.

The thief king has been jousted from his seat at the throne of Asgard and the Asgardians have been under official rule of the rightful Asgardian King and Queen for some time now.

09/07/2559 A.T.

28/08/2559 A.T. Execution of Asgardians

Postby Midgard DM » Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:32 pm

28/08/2559 A.T. Execution of Asgardians tomorrow.
Port Ossic - Three Asgardian extremists, accused and found guilty off, murdering at least 27 Utgardians, including members of the notorious coppercrew, will be executed in public tomorrow at sundown. They where captured with the help of the copperheart its defense several weeks ago but judgment was postponed because of the length and extent of the investigation. The Asgardians where also forced to labor tasks during those weeks to pay lost guard resources during the investigation.

The guard is on full alert tomorrow to make sure the execution continues without incident.

04/09/2559 A.T. Counter preperations against cult rituals.

Postby Midgard DM » Fri Sep 04, 2009 11:27 pm

04/09/2559 A.T. Counter preparations against cult rituals.
New Targash - Several prominent church organizations in Midgard have called upon their members to attend, or at least pray in unison in rituals coming Wednesday. Coming Wednesday seems to be a magical potent day for several cults, being of the number 9-9-9 in the Midgardian calender, especially those of Talor, the initialiser of the current calender system. The true church of Talor states that any prayer or attendants will help combat the evil divine forces that will surely be called upon that day with good divine energy. This will stop or at least harm the attempts of cultists to use this day to their advantage and kill or harm their enemies trough ritual.

Several owlbears have already promised to attend the meetings in the larger churches of Talor and bestow blessings upon the attendees to protect them from evil influences.

Several smaller organisations and even individuals or small groups of worshippers who don't have churches in Midgard state they will turn their attention to their shrines on that Wednesday to ask for warding against this cultist empowering day.

08/09/2559 A.T. Port Ossic in state of internal war.
Port Ossic - Following the execution of three Asgardian criminals riots and fights between Midgardian civilians of Asgardian and Utgardian origin have been breaking out across the whole of the Port. Humans, halfling and gnomes seem not te be bothered nor attacked in all of this. "It is as if they brought the war here!" Says Fenil, a gnome that has been entranced by these recent events. "Sure they always hated each other, but they never act on that hatred... well they do, but not all at once. It looks like a warzone here, I have seen two dead elves, one fae and one dead troll just today. One of the elves was decapitated."

Reports of at least thirty deads have been filed by various lorekeepers within the week, the death toll among the Asgardians seems to be allot higher, leading to the conclusion of the watch that an utgardian organization are taking the initiative in this.

"Kan me niet schelen wie er begonnen is, zowel... beide groepen vechten nou." A distressed citizen exclaims. "Ze laten ons op zich met rust, maar de kinderen zijn doodsbang van het geschreeuw snachts. De wacht zou hier iets aan moeten doen!"

Alvis has stated that several arrest teams of mercenaries are arresting or completing field judgements as we speak, especially house Naktoh seems to be behind this and they will be punished accordingly within the law, the whole gang, both orcs and others.

However the watch has also stated that other organizations are probably behind this. They could not disclose who they are referring to at the moment but they say they are doing everything in their power to stop who is behind this menace.

Reports of both Utgardians and Asgardians leaving Port Ossic and the villages around it are widespread.

21/09/2559 A.T. Port Ossic returns to rest. Power flow stabilizes itself once more.
Port Ossic - The streets of Port Ossic seem to be once again clean of blood. Now that the riots in central Ossic have been firmly subdued and Asgardians and Utgardians have been leaving the city a mass, rest have once again returned to the largest aqua based settlement of Midgard. Only one more race related murder has been reported last week.

"We have lost about half our teachers in this struggle." Said a spokesperson within the Mana university. "All our Asgardian teachers have packed their bags and left, a quarter of them told us it was permanent and resigned. One of them was killed in her sleep, we shall mis her optimism greatly. This is a blow to the magical community of this Port we shall not easily overcome, we have financial programs with great benefits for Asgardian teachers but have not received an application the last month."

Several experts of the Asgard-Utgard war are astound that the war found its way into the heart of Midgardian community in this way. "Most immigrants we as a nation get, want to get out of the war. They do not come here to fight, they come here to forget, rest or escape. With the possible exception of the orcs and ogres. Nobody could have expected this. We where afraid the initial riots would spark similar fights in the rest of Midgard, but somehow this fear never materialized. We expect that some external force, possible the murderers that where executed just before the riots, or actions of revenge from that point on, where responsible for the initial chaos. Since such an external cause of social chaos was not present in the other cities, the riots did not carry on towards the other cities. In short, they must have been, at the same time, artificially enforced, from both sides, costing lost of resources from both the Asgardian and Utgardian side of the conflict. And thus burning up quite quickly."

Whoever is behind the riots, they have not yet claimed any statement but many people are pointing fingers. Several organizations, including Asgardian military special forces, arms dealers, several rebel organizations, pirates, Midgardian merchant families and even house Undain itself have been blamed of this conflict. "Nobody really knows who has done it, possibly not even the once who actually did it." Captain Blur of the guard proclaimed. "It is almost impossible to backtrack. We are currently not seeking anyone to blame, we are simply making sure the chance of it happening again is as low as possible."

Again, whoever where behind the riots. Their are enough organizations that benefit over it. Both the Havelaars family and the Rijnbloed council expanded their influence greatly over the last few weeks. The elders of the Rijnbloed council are rumored to be disgruntled about their lack of influence within the halfing quarters, however the halfings and other traders within this quarters don't seem to mind the new standards. Most of them have been signing new contracts with Havelaars exporters who don't really care about blue or pure blood. The more nobel families however still cling to the old Rijnbloed ways, and recapture of their old status within the Halfing quarters is not at all impossible for Rijnbloed.

Lastly, after the riots where fully subdued, house Undain regained in popularity as never before. Alvis has promised grand spectacle in the arena as the greatest games in years are being prepared for next month as a reward for the people of Ossic for their help in returning peace to the city. However rumors have been circulating about internal struggle within the Undain family as Anton seems less than pleased about the way Alvis handled things.

24/09/2559 A.T. Possible law change.
New Targash - Anton Undain, high ruler of Midgard, has written in a letter to council of law members about a new Midgardian law change last week. This letter was intercepted and the information sold to us by criminals when the runner carrying the letter was mugged. The letter doesn't state what the law change is or which law will change or to what agree nor when it will change.

Anton himself was not available for comment today but has promised to explain the situation later this week. He has hinted at a large change to the punishment of one of the laws of Midgard.

We will update you on this story as more information becomes available.

24/09/2559 A.T. Scandal in Ossic!
Port Ossic - Alvis Undain, the regent of Port Ossic, is rumored to be heavily involved in the drug scene. A new, very expensive and exotic drug mind-stomp that has recently entered the market, seems to have entered Alvis his regular diet if his anonymous maiden is to be believed. "I was ordered to grind the strange powder trough his meal at least twice a day, sometimes more." She claims. "He always brought the powder to me personally so nobody else knew what it was. I once tasted a bit of it and felt all strange for about an hour. I didn't knew what it was at the time, but now that all these rumors start surfacing about him feeding it to guards that where on trail...".

Alvis himself seems to not only have come under scrutiny of his own guard houses lately, but most of his business ventures, including several of these guard houses, have been driven out of business by joined hostile takeovers from both the Havelaar family and the Rijnbloed Council over the last week. Effectively speaking Alvis has lost both the support from the general public of the port as well as his extra income.

"These are all lies." Claims Undain "Those powders where no mental drugs. They where sense enhancers to stimulate my... dates... And even if it was mind-stomp, that would prove nothing of my involvement with the mana university tragedy. I have no further comment."

Anton Undain has yet to reply on the current situation, but the council of law dictates a temporary replacement for Undain, at least for the duration of the investigations against him.

We will update you as more information becomes available. Anton has promised a word with us tomorrow about his cousin and the rumored new law, both.

01/10/2559 A.T. Official Anton Undain truth release!
New Targash - Yesterday, Anton Undain, the ruler of Midgard, released statements concerning the situation in Port Ossic and the new upcoming law change within the law system of Midgard.

Port Ossic has been a place of turmoil and chaos the last few months as the war seemed to have been spilling on the neutral city streets of the harbour. This eventually resulted in the havelaar family and the rijbloed council as well as several other small faction, guilds and organisation stepping in to cover expenses, protect citizens and keeping the iron economy flowing. Alvis Undain, former regent of Port Ossic, has officially been jousted from his ruling seat because he wanted to reclaim his popularity after these events in a possibly unlawful way. Investigations are currently in full swing.

Meanwhile Anton Undain has yesterday stated that Alvis, his cousin, will not return to any regent position higher than the mayor of a small village next to New Targash. Anton is activly searching for a permanent replacement for Alvis.

"In these harsh times, the people of Midgard need a leader that they enjoy looking up to. A leader that will go the extra mile for the happyness of the people itself."

After beeing asked if he allready had somebody in mind Anton was almost unable to answer because of the crowd cheering and demanding the name of the Havelaar family head. Bent Havelaar.

"I will certainly consider young Bent as a suitable replacement." Anton told the crowd after the commotion had died down. "His young spirit and charitable nature has not gone unnoticed at all, but the Havelaar family has a certain reputation and that...." No more was understood by this lorekeeper as the crowd erupted in disordered shouting.

Anton, as always in this sort of situation simply stood smiling and patiently waited for the noise to die down on the balcony of his new palace. After a few minutes he was given a drink by one of his High Guards. He seemed to enjoy the shouting greatly as he has many times before.

"As always, the voice of the people will not go unnoticed. The young Havelaar needs only to sent me a sealed letter with his motivation if he so desires and he will be the first I will consider as a replacement." The cheer that followed this statement was overwhelming. Almost enough to make one forget that another topic was to be discussed during this truth release. Undain his voice became more silent, serious and distant as he gave the second statement.

"People of Midgard. For many year now we have lived under the rule of my predecessors laws. The only change in law that you have experienced in the past under my rule, if you did notice at all, was the addition of the term "Vortexian", bringing little real change to any law." A small pause "I however feel it is time for another change. A change to the first law of Midgard. Murder. Murder is causing the death of another Midgardian and has always been repaid in kind. A suitable arrangement, one that will still stand. However, we have no way of repaying many numbers of murder. We cannot kill the murderer several times over. The first time we do so, his soul is in the hands of the gods." This caused a small rumble across the crowd.

"We have always designed our laws with a market philosophy in mind. We wanted to make crime an unappealing and strategically irrational choice. We do not see punishment as real punishment. We see punishment as a form of payment for the crime. But we have been giving away bargains! If you where to murder several members of our community now, you will only be repaid in kind once, a bargain if I ever saw one. Many Asgardians and Utgardians alike will gladly sacrifice their lives if it means taking several of the enemy with them into the grave! This is Midgard! We shall not tolerate this!"
A cheer once more rose from the crowd but it died down very quickly. People seemed to be anxious to know what solution would be brought forth for this problem.

"People of Midgard. If a person in the future is found guilty of multiple murders he will recieve not only death as a punishment but also torture. The higher the death count the longer the torture before sweet mercy of death." Cries from the public. "People of Midgard. This torture will be conducted by specialists, or in some cases willing famlity members or friends of the victim." More cheering and shouting. "These torture sessions may be commercially exploited by the guard houses to cover expenses and provide a new form of entertainment for you, the public." Voices of both approvement and disapprovement rose up from the public. Anton had to wait several minutes again before being able to speak. "That is all, thank you." and with that Anton walked from his balcony.

When this new law will actually be officially released to guardhouses and the details of the length and methods of torture be known to the public is not yet disclosed.

01/10/2559 A.T. Grand arena feast still to be held!
New Targash - A grand arena tournament was scheduled to be staged to thank the people of Port Ossic for their cooperation during the riots. This was statement made by Alvis Undain prior to being expelled as regent of Ossic last week, however several businesses affiliated with the former regent have been declared bankrupt and the festivities had a large chance to be canceled. Astrid Undain, a prominent member of the Undain family has however taken up the organization of the arena fest, being a large fan of arena fights herself. She will be traveling to Port Ossic herself and has promised the folk of the haven the largest arena festival ever.

No date for the festivities have yet been set.

16/10/2559 A.T. Astrid Undain appointed as new ruler Port Ossic!
Port Ossic - This morning, Anton Undain, our leader, has given full policy control and financial distribution control over to yet another Undain. Astrid Undain. Astrid Undain, is an old female full-blood human who has had experience as a policy overseer of the Svadilfar special instrest city (SIC), and she has leadership experience as a field general for the Midgardian army.

Astrid Undain was besides herself with joy as she climbed the stage, thanking Anton and promising the people of Port Ossic a stable and joyful new Port Ossic. She also promised the halfings residing that she will help the halfling council in creating their own SIC within the city, eventually giving control back to the halfings who founded the Port. Her experience with these sub-states will certainly help in this daunting task. The rest of her speech however was cut short by public outcry.

The public of Port Ossic, demanding an explanation for the choice of Astrid instead of Bent Havelaars. Bent Havelaars, a young Havelaar trader has been seen as somewhat of a hero by the people of Ossic, giving charitable to the people in times of need, as was the case with the recent riots.
Anton Undain himself stepped in, to subdue the roar of the crowd.

"Hear me, people of Ossic. Three days ago the council and I did indeed gave first choice to Bent Havelaars as the new regent for this beloved port. However, two nights ago I was visited by a black shade of evil presence. My security personnel suspect it was a demon, a passion shade. It did not attack me, as it was held back by my personal wards but it did mock me and the council it's choice.
The demon told me that Havelaars has fled this plane of existence because he is hunted by the rest of his family for abandoning their ways and speaking shame about his family predecessors. After that the shade left. Not believing the foul creature I first tried magically contacting Bent Havelaars several times over the last days to no effect. Eventually I received reports that he had been spotted traveling towards New-Targash and the old trading Portal and that the guard at the portal had indeed seen him leave Heimr, together with a cloaked figure.
Since no Vortexians where meeting at the time Bent left us, and because the banking council demanded a new regent for your city post haste, cutting of any time to wait for a possible return of Havelaars, I have appointed Astrid Undain, our constant second choice in the negotiations."

That seemed to only partially subdue the crowd. But they did listen to the rest of Astrid her speech. Astrid repeated that she would only rule Ossic temporarily, and that during her rule she would, having no children, see to it that the rest of her personal funds will be put to good use entertaining the people of Ossic. Having recently sold all her belongings apart from a small mansion in Ossic and enough to sustain her state of living probably well past her time, she is now putting all other funds into the arena and other festivities.
This seemed to greatly please the crowd.
